The Hispanic Bar Association of Houston is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since its founding in 1988, HisBA has been working for the advancement of Hispanics in the legal profession, serving the public interest, promoting high standards of integrity, honor, and professional courtesy among lawyers, and working with the other bar associations and community, legal and governmental organizations in furtherance of its missions and goals.

As a leading voice in the Houston legal community, HisBA represents and promotes the growing impact of Hispanics in the practice of law and the community at large.

Spotlight

On March 28, 2013, from noon to 1:30 PM, please join HisBA at a reception honoring Judge Alberto R. Gonzales. In addition to being the 3rd president of HisBa (1990-1991), Judge Gonzales was the first Hispanic United States Attorney General, and to date remains the highest-ranking Hispanic in the executive branch. Prior to serving as AG, Judge Gonzales served as White House General Counsel (the first Hispanic to do so) and General Counsel to the Governor of Texas. Judge Gonzales also served as Secretary of State of Texas and Texas Supreme Court Justice. The reception in Judge Gonzales’ honor reception will be held at the law offices of Sutherland located at 1001 Fannin Street, Suite 3700, Houston, Texas 77002.
